A Network Consultant will design small to large enterprise networks by completing surveys. During a site survey you will need to be able to design a small to large network’s infrastructure, propose a wireless access point solution and test against that solution with survey software such as Fluke’s Air Magnet, propose new hardware, complete network diagrams of your proposed solution, complete other applicable extensive documentation in relation to displaying the validity of your solution, and all of this must be done according to any given customers’ requirements/standards.
A Network Engineer will implement small to large enterprise networks by completing installations. During a network installation you will need to be able to configure networking equipment such as switches, routers, access points, and wireless controllers from a layer 2 and 3 standpoint. You will need to be able to physically install all new hardware on any given site. Completion of documentation will be required such as port maps, network diagrams, and heat mapping wireless solutions. This all must be done according to any given customers’ requirements/standards.
